11/29(Mon) - 11/30(Tue) first interview to US scholar (Daniel Aldrich)

11/29(Mon)

I visited Prof. Daniel Aldrich in his office. I recorded it and asked to transcribe it to my acquaintance. He gave me helpful advice on my research frameworks. In particular, I think his suggestion to change "disaster prevention" to "resiliency" will be significant. And, I asked about Hiroi's work. He seems to know about the study and classified it as "spiritual capital." We will meet again next February.

11/30(Tue)
I put all JDA search results in English into NVivo.
Then, I participated in HIST2016. This was the last lecture and the title was “Japan’s postwar history as variation on the main themes of global history.” We discussed four themes (Economy, Policy, Social questions, the aftermath of empire). The genius students talked about what they thought was important about each theme, and Prof. Gordon added to them. I thought it was an excellent way to summarize lectures, and it described " wrap-up lecture" in its syllabus.
After that, I prepared questions for Prof. Richard Samuels and sent them to Prof. Gordon. And, I prepared a presentation slide of the Japan forum "Using the Japan Disasters Digital Archive in the Classroom: Perspectives from Japan and the United States," and shared it with Ms.Stacie Matsumoto.
