I made a presentation and some comments to the online event “Using the Japan Disasters Digital Archive in the Classroom: Perspectives from Japan and the United States.” I'm going to briefly study and think about the technical things of search methods.
12/3(Fri)
I took 2nd Berlitz online lesson in the morning and joined Post-doc lunch after a long time. After that, I conducted QDA work of JDA search result #US2. In the evening, I participated the Earthquake and Disaster Symposium organized by Prof. Hanzawa (Niigata Univ.). I enjoyed the presentation of Leo Bosner(former FEMA staff.)

I trained my muscle at the MAC. I finished the QDA work of JDA search result #US2. It was the special report of the Heritage Foundation. I think the core message was “The more attention given to disaster preparedness before disaster strikes, the more efficiently resources can be applied to ensuring the resilience of the nation and rapid recovery after a disaster." And I went to china town to have dinner and visit the Boston Ballet to enjoy the Nutcracker.

I went to Ebisuya, where a teacher of Berlitz had told me, and bought some Japanese stuff (soba, miso soup, etc.)
I finished reading Yonaha (2021) “平成史.” I searched the book related to the 3.11 disaster by scholars who are not in the disaster research. He is a historian of my generation who quit the university after suffering from depression. I got some new perceptions of the Heisei era. I consider this kind of work will help when I'll generalize my research outcome. Some excerpts are below.
