I wrote disaster response history from 1945 to 1995 (1946 Nankai Earthquake, 1948 Fukui Earthquake, 1959 Isewan Typhoon, 1964 Niigata Earthquake, 1976 Tokai Earthquake Warning, and 1995 Kobe Earthquake.) I set the title of the section as "sidestream history of disasters and disaster prevention."
On 2/24, I went to Emerson Colonial Theater to watch the modern musical Donna Summer with Taga-sensei. On 2/25, I had dinner at the Harvest with Iokibe-sensei. He informed me of Niall Ferguson's “Doom” and his article about Covid-19 and political history. It was a pleasure to talk with one of Japan's leading scholars.
